How do we know this is a challenge?
Let’s look at our team’s main source of quality analysis: our Monthly Quality Reviews.
From March 2024 - August 2024, mis-flagged items made up 85% of failed still life imagery.
The rest are:
Cropping 6%
Straightening/angle 6%
Focal Length 3%
To have a proper analysis, we should also look upstream to Retouching, who catches quality-related errors beyond the photgraphy step.
To do this, let’s look at Retouching’s #Quality-Flags channel, where we’ll see that during the same time period, the following
Dust & Fingerprints 33%
Straightening 32%
Paper 13%
Reflections/Flagging 12%
Focus 5%
Lighting 5%
Most of this could be funneled into easy operational changes such as reminders (for the purposes of this exersize that’s kind of boring, let’s explore something more fun and impactful).
